Abstract: In this talk, the experimental realization of Kolmogorov flow is discussed, in the context of trying to achieve quantitative agreement with the doubly-periodic simulation, presented in our last meeting. The sequence of bifurcations in the "original" geometry are briefly presented. The effects of changing the boundary conditions are shown; we choose a new geometry which improves the agreement with the simulation. Preliminary results of recurrence searches across experimental data and between experiment and numerics are presented.

Here is a video that shows a weak turbulence in the experiment (Re=35).
