    Noncanonical Hamiltonian formulation: toward gyrokinetics
I will review an article on a noncanonical Hamiltonian treatment of the motion of a charged particle in electromagnetic fields, following R.G. Littlejohn [J. Math. Phys. 20, 2445 (1979)]. Averaging techniques lead to the equations of the so-called guiding center and to the gyrokinetics equations used in plasma physics.

Theory of compact groups, discrete and continuous, continued.
An introduction to representation theory of compact Lie groups and finite discrete groups, with the goal of applying this to fluid flows with continuous symmetries - pipe and plane Couette. We'll sing it until we get it right.
